1982 The Coca-Cola Company introduced Diet Coke in the USA, marking the first extension of the Coca-Cola trademark. To celebrate the new product, a gala reception was held at New York's Radio City Music Hall. The success of the brand was immediate and it became the leading diet soft drink in the world.
US rollout of Diet Coke reaches 31 percent distribution. As each bottling area launched bottles were manufactured to commemorate the launch.
