Sheppard's mother, Mary Woolslair Sheppard, was a spiritual adviser and friend of Mina Edison.
His father, W.A. Sheppard, a respected lawyer and veteran of both world wars, taught his son to help those who need help.
Sheppard has chronicled his history in "One Man's Family In Early Fort Myers 1898-1945."
